Celtic Artisan wins on the flat
Plenty of patience was rewarded at Chelmsford Racecourse on Thursday night, when Celtic Artisan finally lost his maiden tag on the flat having knocked on the door for so long!
Celtic Artisan is a lovely little horse who was purchased at the Newmarket Horses in Training Sale in October 2014 by Tom Malone on behalf of EPDS Racing. He was sent over here to be sold after winning his Juvenile Hurdle in Ireland and was given a potentially unrealistic handicap mark.
The team at Rebecca Menzies Racing spent time getting to know ‘Dylan’s’ ideals, and it became apparent to us that he had the action to suit the better summer ground. He managed to get his head in front over hurdles at Huntingdon after some consistent spins, which was great for his confidence. We’ve kept him ticking over on the flat whilst we wait for his ideal jumping ground, and he seems to be loving every minute of it!
His shareholders have been very lucky to have such a consistent little Horse. He has placed in the first four home 17 times from 27 starts. You can’t ask for much more than that! He too will have a quiet couple of weeks after his efforts and you may well see him back over hurdles if we can avoid those rainclouds!
Well done Dylan!
