Yard Visit to Noel Williams’
Following on from a fantastic visit to Lambourn last week, the EPDS Racing members braved the winds of storm ‘Imogen’ on a visit to the Ridgeway in Blewbury! It is here that Noel Williams trains from his Blewbury base.
Members enjoyed the shelter of the yard, meeting our Horses, Kincora Fort, Daliance and Menace. It has seemed a long winter without the exciting Kincora in training, due to a leg injury, but seeing him look so well in himself was a reminder that it won’t be long before we get him back in action, an exciting thought for all of his connections. He will be heading over to Ufton Green Farm for an extended Summer break next week, and I know that Tracey will enjoy having him to stay! It is lovely to have the facilities to have the Horses home for their breaks – we get to see them both in and out of training and they are fantastic to be around.
A short walk took us up to Noel’s all-weather gallop, where we got to see Daliance working ahead of his run at Fakenham on Monday. He’s a horse with a very workmanlike attitude who knows his job and, in spite of the howling winds and driving rain, did three lovely canters up the gallop before heading home. It’s hard to remember he has only just turned 7, he seems wise before his years!
I don’t know if the Horses were more pleased than the members to be heading back to the warm and dry, but with coffee and warm pastries waiting for us on our return, there was a sprint within the final furlong for home!
It was great to spend time hearing about the Horses that Noel has in for the season, including some new recruits and some old faithful’s! Our Twitterati Syndicate horse, Menace, was keen as always for plenty of affection, although we thought it was a little too damp and cold to get him out of bed for a photoshoot. We’ll be heading back to the yard in March to see him on the gallops and can’t wait! It will be great to get him back to the track once the ground dries in his favour. He has some really enthusiastic owners all over the country and it will be fantastic to see him go out and (hopefully!) get his head in front for them all!
